ArthNow vs Economic Times: Quick Market Briefs or a Full Business Newspaper?
The Economic Times has been India's best-known business newspaper for decades, and its apps carry that newsroom to your phone: breaking stories, company interviews, opinion, and through ET Markets, live stock prices and portfolio tools.
ArthNow is a much smaller product with a narrower job. It condenses market and business news into briefs you can read in under a minute, with no ads, audio playback and reading in seven Indian languages. This page compares the two honestly, including where ET is clearly the better choice.

Where the Economic Times is the stronger choice
If you want to understand a company in depth, ET's advantage is the newsroom. Reporters break stories, interview CEOs and regulators, and write the follow-ups that summaries are built on. ETPrime adds sector deep dives and stock reports that ArthNow simply does not offer.
ET Markets also does real work as a markets tool. Live NSE and BSE quotes, portfolio tracking and stock alerts let you follow your own holdings. ArthNow has a live market screen, but it shows the broad market (indices, top movers, IPOs, commodities), not your personal portfolio.
Where ArthNow is the better fit
ArthNow is for the reader who doesn't have time for a full newspaper every morning. The feed is split into Market, Economy, IPO, Metals & MCX, Personal Finance and Crypto & Web3 desks, and each story is reduced to the facts that matter: what happened, the numbers, and why it is relevant. If you want more, one tap opens the original report.
- No ads at all, so a five-minute catch-up stays five minutes.
- Audio briefs with a female or male voice at normal or fast speed, for the drive or the metro.
- The whole app, news included, can switch to seven Indian languages, translated on your phone.
- Search accepts a plain question, such as why bank stocks fell today, and answers from recent coverage.
A practical way to use both
Most ArthNow readers already follow at least one large publisher. A common routine is to skim ArthNow's Market and Economy desks before 9:15 am, listen to a few briefs on the commute, and open the full Economic Times article only for the one or two stories that affect a stock you own.
