Shares of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India's largest IT services company, gained nearly 3 per cent in Thursday's intraday trade as investors positioned themselves ahead of the company's September-quarter earnings announcement.
TCS shares climbed to a day's high of Rs 2,142 on the BSE, up 2.8 per cent from the previous close of Rs 2,084. At 1:45 PM, the stock was trading at Rs 2,105, higher by 1.19 per cent.
The gains in TCS also came amid a broader recovery in IT stocks. HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra and Wipro advanced more than 1 per cent each, helping the Nifty IT pack gain around 2 per cent even as the broader market remained under pressure.
