Apple exported $13.2 billion iPhones from India in the first five months of this fiscal year, nearly 47% higher than a year earlier and contributing about half to the country's total electronics shipments and 82% to smartphone exports during the period.
Total smartphone exports in the April-August period rose about 36% from a year earlier to $15.96 billion, and as much as 98% of the incremental increase came from iPhones alone, show data available with ET.
Electronics exports increased 34% to $26.66 billion. "Apart from Apple, Samsung and Dixon (Motorola) contributed to smartphone exports, along with some third-party exports," said a person privy to the numbers, as companies have not reported the data.
