Around seven stocks may soon get demoted to the midcap segment from current largecap status by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) in its Semi-Annual rejig in H1 CY27, according to a prediction by Nuvama Institutional Equities.
Based on current average market-cap levels, AMFI may increase the large-cap cut-off to approximately Rs 1.10 lakh crore (compared to Rs 1.06 lakh crore as of June 2026) and the mid-cap threshold to be around Rs 36,500 crore (compared to Rs 33,600 crore as of June 2026).
Godrej Consumer Products, which is a largecap stock now and has a market cap of Rs 88,009 crore may get midcap status in H1 CY27.
Ambuja Cements which is a large cap stock now and has a market cap of Rs 86,968 crore may get midcap status in H1 CY27.
