Shankara Buildpro has announced a 1:5 stock split, under which each existing equity share with a face value of Rs 10 will be divided into five equity shares with a face value of Rs 2 each.
The stock closed at Rs 1,227.20 on the NSE on Wednesday, September 30, down 1.37 per cent. The stock opened at Rs 1,249.10 and touched an intraday high of Rs 1,257.90 and a low of Rs 1,221.10. The company has a market capitalisation of around Rs 2,960 crore.
A stock split simply means dividing one existing share into more shares. In Shankara Buildpro's case, one share of Rs 10 share (face value) will become five shares of Rs 2 each.
To understand it better, if an investor holds 10 shares before the split, those 10 shares will become 50 shares after the split action completes.
